Records Disposal
Decisions about the retention of ACT Government records are guided by the development and implementation of records disposal schedules (RDS) which provide details on how long they should be kept, and if and when they can be nominated for destruction. Records disposal schedules are a by-product of following the Assess Principle and are developed in partnership with the Territory Records Office.
All Records Disposal Schedules are available for use by any agency that creates records covered by the schedule and whose records are subject to the Territory Records Act 2002. Records Disposal Schedules are considered by the Territory Records Advisory Council prior to approval by the Director of Territory Records and their implementation by agencies.
Records Disposal Schedules can be found on the ACT Legislation Register.
‘Retain as Territory Archives’
ACT Government Archives are those records kept as ‘Retain as Territory Archives’ according to the authorised Records Disposal Schedules.
